  PUNE: A set of books issued by the Central government to primary school students for extra-academic reading glorifying the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government's achievements has resulted in creating a controversy.

Among the set is a book titled "Chacha Choudhari and Narendra Modi". The book has been prescribed for the primary school and highlights various government schemes implemented by the NDA government. The book talks about GST, Ujjwala Yojana, Digital India and several other schemes in a format which can be easily

The book is part of 69 books which have been issued by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development under 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan'.

Several government officers and political leaders have condemned this move of the government.

“Instead of Modi, the government should issue biographies of great men like Saint Gadgebaba,” NCP MP Supriya Sule criticised the introduction of the books in a press conference on Monday.
