Financial literacy is necessary for women, youth and farmers in rural areas to understand the importance of savings, to get proper information about banking security, insurance schemes, agricultural loans etc. Financial Literacy workshops are held from time to time to provide guidance on various financial aspects. The members of Self Help groups and other participants gain valuable insights from eminent resource persons. Basic but important aspects like opening a bank account, using an ATM card, making bank deposits and withdrawals, especially for women are covered in the workshops. Passbooks are also distributed to new bank account holders. Women can become financially independent only when they are financially literate, is the rationale behind this initiative. This is jointly organised by NABARD, Pune District Central Cooperative Bank and Yashwantrao Chavan Centre.
