Supriya Sule entered into electoral politics when she was first elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in 2006. Later in 2009, 2014 & 2019, she was elected as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.
As a people’s representative, she is vocal about issues that matter to common citizens, having local, state and national importance. In 2011, she launched a State-wide campaign against female foeticide that involved Padayatra, college events, competitions etc. It was inaugurated at Naigaon-the birthplace of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule and concluded in Koregaon in Pune. The participation of many young women and men led to large scale awareness regarding rising incidents of female infanticide and a rapidly falling sex ratio in the state of Maharashtra. Supriya Sule has also been associated with an all-party campaign against malnutrition. In 2012, she launched the Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress to give a platform to young girls in politics and create their network across the state of Maharashtra.
