Pune: NCP MP Supriya Sule criticised the BJP government for lacking a scientific approach and said leaders associated with the party make foolish statements as a result of this. Sule was interacting with the media during her visit to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday.
Sambhaji Bhide, founder of Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan (SPH), who was accused for his alleged role in the Bhima-Koregaon riots, made a statement in Nashik that those who eat mangoes from his farm are blessed with a kid. Reacting to it, Sule said, “BJP’s union ministers do not believe in Darwin’s theory. People around the Prime Minister do not believe in science. So they make statements like Sita is the first test tube baby. Now, look at this statement, if a woman eats mangoes from Bhide’s farm, she will get pregnant. BJP leaders make foolish statements one after the other.”
She added, “NCP will conduct a ‘Halla Bol’ agitation in different parts of the State. There is a strong anti-government sentiment against the current government.”
On Monday, Sule met Pune Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao to discuss the lack of facilities at eleven villages recently merged with the PMC. She alleged, “After eight months of the merger, the PMC has not done anything for these 11 villages. There is no basic infrastructure like water, roads, sanitation, health, etc.”
She also demanded that well-known Maharashtrian poet GD Madgulkar’s memorial be built along Mutha River near Wakad, besides the Madhavrao Shinde Garden. NCP leader of Opposition in PMC Chetan Tupe was present for the meeting. Rao gave an assurance that all works would be completed soon.
