Hinjewadi water shortage: Draw water from Mulshi, else buy, suggests MP Supriya Sule

For the past few months, six villages, including Hinjewadi, Maan, Chande, Nande, Marjuni and Mahalunge, have been facing a severe drinking water crisis. To tackle the issue, officials from various organisations and Sule discussed various available options. After meeting Hinjewadi industries association (HIA) members, Supriya Sule, member of parliament, instructed the district administration to check whether water from the Mulshi regional water scheme can be distributed to the affected areas. She also instructed the administration to check whether there is a need to buy water from Mangir Baba water supply scheme at Wakad.

Sule said,"Getting enough drinking water is a basic human right. Areas near Information Technology (IT) parks are facing serious water crisis. We will definitely sort out the issue by coordinating with all the departments."

In a bid to resolve the drinking water crisis in Hinjewadi, Maan and other adjoining villages, Sule conducted a meeting with officers of the Hinjewadi industries association (HIA), Maan gram panchayat, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), public works department, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Monday .

In addition to this, Sule also instructed the administration to start the construction work of roads from Hinjewadi to Mhalungi, Chande Nande to Mhalungi and Shivaji chowk to Wakad on top priority basis. For facilitating this, land acquisition must be completed after a discussion with local farmers and officers should pay close attention to getting the right compensation for farmers, said Sule. The construction work of these roads have been pending for many years now. Therefore, Supriya Sule demanded the administration to immediately clear all hurdles and start the work as soon as possible.

Besides water shortage, garbage menace has also been continuously inconveniencing residents. As there is no official space available for garbage disposal in these six villages, residents had earlier met the authorities on multiple occasions demanding a solution, but in vain. To resolve the issue, Sule advised residents to conduct a separate meeting with the newly appointed district collector and submit a detailed project report to him.
