Center of Excellence for Dairy foundation stone laid in Baramati
Baramati – Netherlands Deputy Prime Minister Ms Carola Schouten on Friday laid the foundation stone of Center of Excellence for Dairy, a joint Indo – Dutch initiative between the Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati (supported by GOI under RKVY) and the Dutch Govt.
Genetic improvement of Indian breeds for better cattle health, increased milk yield and milk quality improvement will be the focus areas of CoE for Dairy.
“I had gotten opportunity to visit Netherlands during my stint as an Agriculture Minister. There I decided to set up the Center of Excellence for various agricultural sectors in India. In this context , In 2015, foundation stone of CoE for Vegetable Production was laid at the hands of Shri Narendra Modi in Baramati. I am happy that Ms Carola could see the state of art facilities in this CoE. In my opinion, merely bringing Dutch technology in India is not enough, it should successfully reach the farmers and their farms”, said Sharad Pawar, who was also present.
Later bicycle distribution ceremony that took place. “This bicycle distribution program for girl students and ASHA workers is one of my higher priority initiative for empowering women . I’m grateful to Mr. Pankaj Munjal, Chairman Hero Cycles and Shri Jagdish Khattar, MD of Suzuki for extending support for this initiative”, Pawar added.
